Joystick tester v2.4 -------------------- By sd_snatcher, 12/2016 This utility lets you test a lot of Human Interface Devices that can be connected to the MSX, either directly or by using adapters. It's based on my own JoyLib library, that is 100% compliant to the MSX coding guidelines and can be used either to create new MSX gaming/utilities, or patch the old ones to add support for new devices. 1) Fully Supported devices, all automatically detected: 1a) MSX native devices - Joystick (default) - Mouse - Trackball - Touchpad - Keyboard (arrows, SPACE and GRAPH) - Light gun (Plus-X Terminator Laser protocol) - Light Pen (Sanyo MLP-001 and V9938 built-in) 1b) Joymega adapter devices - Sega Megadrive 3-button joypad - Sega Megadrive 6-button joypad - Sega Megadrive MK-1654 Multi-tap (and compatibles) Warning: *Never* connect any Megadrive device directly to the MSX as it can damage your computer and/or the device! Always connect them using the joymega adapter. You can buy one in the MSX community, or DIY following the instructions shown here: http://frs.badcoffee.info/hardware/joymega-en.html 2) Devices that are detected, but still have no drivers: - Vaus Arkanoid paddle for the MSX - Sega Saturn digital joypad - Sega Saturn 3linehs devices (i.e.: Saturn analog joystick) - Sega Saturn mouse 3) Only planned - Extended MSX-Mouse protocol (scrollwheel support) - Panasonic FS-JH1 joywheel - Micomsoft XE-1AP analog joystick 2) Usage JOYTEST [port][subport] [port] can be: 0 = keyjoystick 1 = joystick port 1 2 = joystick port 2 P = Light Pen Port [subport] can be: A, B, C or D for the multi-tap 1 or 2 for the light pen 3) Examples A:\JOYTEST Will run Joytest with the defaults: joyport=1, multitapport=A A:\JOYTEST 2 Joytest will look for devices in joyport2 A:\JOYTEST 1c Joytest will look for devices in joyport1, and select multitapport C if a multi-tap is connected. A:\JOYTEST p1 Joytest will test the light pen port 1. Note that the light pens have specific ports and do not use the joystick port. 4) Light pen/touchscreen specifics: - The usual configuration on most MSX models is that the Sanyo Light pen interface is mapped to the port P1, and the V9938 built-in light pen interface is mapped to the port P2. - Press GRAPH+SELECT to enable the calibration of the Light pen/touchscreen devices. When calibrating, the pointer will be held at a fixed position on the screen.
