ADIR - ANSI Dir Version 1.3 Copyright (c) 1994 By C.P.U. and 1997 By : NYYRIKKI The program ----------- The ADIR program is an almost exact copy of the normal DIR command. The ADIR program only runs when an ANSI screen is activated. When you use the ADIR command to list the contents of a directory, different file types will be printed each in its own color. Determining the file type is done by the file's extension. Possibilities and impossibilities in comparison to the DIR command ------------------------------------------------------------------ * It isn't possible to specify a 'compound-filespec'. A 'compound-fileú spec' is a searchpath with several directories, separated by a '+', for instance: DIR \UTILS + \HELP ADIR can't process this and will therefore only display the contents of the first directory. * When the command SET DATE is used the specify a different date forú mat, and some unknown characters are used, DIR won't print the date at all. ADIR will display the date correctly, only the unknown characters are replaced with '??'. For instance: SET DATE = DD/MM/JJ The DIR command will print the date in the 00-DD-MM format, while ADIR will print it in the DD-MM-?? format, where DD stands for the day and MM for the month. * When the /W option is specified, a wide listing will be printed, with only the file names. When the /D command is also specified, subú directory names will also be printed. Sub-directories are printed in lower case, file names in capitals. Make sure the /D option always follows the /W option. If the /D option precedes the /W option, the /D option is ignored. * ADIR also has the /2 option, to display a normal listing in two column output. * ADIR Ver 1.3 has now also /S option to display all sub-directories inside of directory, that was in commandline. * Like all other C.P.U. programs, this program also has a built-in manual. Because it is not possible to view it the normal way, by only specifying the command name without any parameters - a normal listing of the current directory of the current drive is then displayed - the /? option has been added to display the built-in manual. Current color settings ---------------------- Default is white characters on a black screen. Volumename, directory, number of files, total number of bytes in these files and total number of free bytes are displayed in yellow. Every filename gets its own color depending on its extension. Public Domain ------------- The ADIR program is Public Domain and may freely be distributed only in its original, packed state. The ADIR13.PMA file contains the following files: ADIR.COM the program ADIR version 1.2 ADIR.GEN the assembler listing (without explanation per line!) ADIR.TXT this text file ADIR.HLP a MSX-DOS 2 format HELP-file. ADIR.ANS that same HELP-file with ANSI codes JANSI.TSR the MSX Software Team TSR for using a ANSI screen J_ON.COM a little program to turn on the ANSI screen when running DOS J_OFF.COM a little program to turn off the ANSI screen when running DOS Everyone who feels like adding new features to the program of removing any bugs found, may use the source listing. (This source does not inú clude an extensive explanation of what every line does!) If you've made a new version I'd be glad to receive it. Any ideas concerning additions or improvements are also welcome.
